We are a church that believes in Jesus & loves God and people
Pastor John Atkerson and his wife Lorna began serving at Heritage Bible Church in 2022. Their family, including five children, has spent many decades in ministry—planting and establishing churches in association with Calvary Chapel and, more recently, serving as missionaries with Rocky Mountain Bible Mission.
John is committed to teaching the Bible verse by verse and chapter by chapter, with a strong emphasis on personal discipleship, fellowship, and prayer as central to God’s vision for the church. His heart is to equip believers to grow in their knowledge of Christ, to live as active members of His body, and to embrace the mission of reaching the world with the gospel. Above all, he teaches that love for one another is the true mark of God’s people walking with Him.
John and Lorna were married for 44 years and are blessed with five children and five grandchildren. In January 2026, Lorna went home to be with the Lord. She is deeply missed by her family and by all those whose lives she touched with the warmth and love of Christ.
Pastor John, along with several of his children, continues to faithfully serve at Heritage Bible Church.

What We Believe
At Heritage Bible Church, we hold to a historic, biblical Christian faith centered on the triune God, the authority of Scripture, and the saving work of Jesus Christ. We believe in the active ministry of the Holy Spirit, God’s design for creation and human life, the mission of the Church, and the promised return of Christ.
Salvation Through Jesus Christ
Because humanity is separated from God by sin, salvation comes only through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, who lived, died, rose again, and will return to establish His kingdom.
One God in Three Persons
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are eternally equal in power and glory, working together in creation, salvation, and the life of every believer.
The Authority of Scripture
The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and the foundation for all faith, practice, and church life.

RMBM exists to glorify God by equipping rural churches and ministries to reach the lost and make disciples of Christ. We will work to develop, empower and release biblical pastoral and lay leaders for existing and new church plants and ministries by cultivating biblically healthy relationships through evangelistic outreach.
